The old town sits on the cliff edge with the Spiaggia della Rotonda beach directly beneath it; the pilgrimage church of Santa Maria dell’Isola stands on a small rocky islet and is reached by a stairway along the cliff. How the options differ
Walking alone gives you control over pauses, photographs and beach time. A guide is more useful when names and façades would otherwise remain scenery, such as the Norman cathedral from the 12th century.
